As we await a new list of candidates from the district, your Call Committee held an
interview with Rev. Jacob Mueller from Epiphany Lutheran in Kenmore, WA. We are
preparing to present him to the congregation as a consideration for Call as our new
pastor. Pro: His interview went very well, and he had some rather impassioned
responses on topics important to Mt. Calvary’s future. We feel – unanimously, I might
add, that he would be a most blessed addition to Mt. Calvary. His wife is also certified
as a Lutheran Educator.
Con: His acceptance of a call would be predicated on the preparedness of his family to
make a move to a mountainous California home at this time.

We still have the bylaw in place requiring four candidates to be presented when we call
a Special Voters’ Meeting to call a pastor. That is going to be the reality for the foreseeable future since there is a district component to bylaw changes which remains outside of our influence. That said, there is a bylaw amendment proposal in the works that relieves the four-candidate burden and is worded to render this rule “future-proof”.
We anticipate the next list of candidates from the district to be arriving this week, and our turn around on that will be much more rapid now that we have had some practice with the process. We hope to generate at least four candidates from this, but we know from experience that this may continue to be a challenge.
Let us all have Faith that the Holy Spirit is sending us His willing servant to Mt. Calvary, despite any administrativeobstacles we throw in His path.
